The Gas Heating Professional Committee of the Gas Branch of the Chinese Society of Civil Engineering has conducted a market survey on the production and sales of gas heating water heaters in 2016. The statistical work has been completed recently, and the following announcement is hereby made:

This survey surveyed nearly 140 companies in the industry, including more than 100 manufacturers of complete gas heating water heaters and more than 40 manufacturers of gas heating water heater components (fans, controllers, water pumps, proportional valves, burners, air pressure switches, expansion tanks, etc.). The survey adopts methods such as enterprise reporting, comparison of production and sales of complete machines and components, user surveys, market analysis, and customs data verification. This statistical work is based on the principles of science, rigor, and authenticity. It took three months to analyze and organize the data, striving for its authenticity and accuracy.

1、 Domestic sales volume statistics:

1. Total sales volume:

According to statistics, the total sales of gas heating water heaters in the Chinese market in 2016 were 2.1 million units. Among them, domestic brands sold 1.2 million units domestically, accounting for 57% of the total annual sales; The imported brand produced and sold 380000 units domestically, accounting for 18% of the total annual sales; The original imported brand sold 520000 units, accounting for 25% of the total annual sales.

Among them, the annual sales volume of condensing gas heating water heaters was 143000 units, an increase of 68% compared to 2015 (85000 units), accounting for 6.8% of the total sales volume in 2016.

In 2016, the total export volume of gas heating water heaters was 170000 units. The export volume of domestic brands is 160000 units; The imported brand produces and exports 10000 units domestically.

2. Domestic product sales distributed by enterprise size:

In 2016, the annual sales volume of gas heating and hot water boiler products (domestic and imported brands produced domestically) was 1.58 million units, of which 50 companies had annual sales exceeding 10000 units, with a total sales volume of 1.469 million units, accounting for 70% of the total domestic sales volume; There are 18 companies with annual sales exceeding 30000 units, with a total sales volume of 986000 units, accounting for 47% of the total domestic sales; There are 9 companies with sales exceeding 50000 units, with a total sales volume of 634000 units, accounting for 30% of the total domestic sales.

In 2016, the annual sales volume of imported brands (original imported) of gas heating water heaters was 520000 units, of which 12 companies had annual sales exceeding 10000 units, with a total sales volume of 458000 units, accounting for 88% of the total import sales and 21.8% of the total domestic sales. Among them, there are 7 enterprises with annual sales exceeding 30000 units, with a total sales volume of 378000 units, accounting for 73% of the total import sales and 18% of the total domestic sales; Among them, there are three companies with annual sales exceeding 50000 units, with a total sales volume of 238000 units, accounting for 46% of the total import sales and 11% of the total domestic sales.

The main import countries are Germany, Italy, Türkiye, South Korea, Poland, Slovakia and Russia.

According to statistics, the total number of domestically produced gas heating water heaters in China in 2016 (domestic production of domestic brands+domestic production of imported brands+total export) was 1.75 million units. The domestic production volume of domestic brands is 1.36 million units, accounting for 78% of the total annual output; The domestic production of foreign brands is 390000 units, accounting for 22% of the total annual output.

According to statistical data, the total domestic sales of gas heating water heaters in 2016 (2.1 million units) increased by 490000 units compared to 2015 (1.61 million units), with a growth rate of 30%. Among them, domestic brands sold 1.2 million units domestically, an increase of 43% compared to 2015 (840000 units); The domestic production and sales of imported brands reached 380000 units, an increase of 15% compared to 2015 (330000 units); The total import sales volume was 520000 units, an increase of 18% compared to 2015 (440000 units); In addition, the total export volume in 2016 (170000 units) increased by 30000 units, or 21%, compared to 2015 (140000 units).

The society has been conducting statistical analysis on the production and sales of gas heating water heaters for 8 consecutive years. Since the start of the statistical work, except for 2015, when the total sales of gas heating water heaters showed a downward trend for the first time due to various comprehensive factors, the rest have shown a rapid growth trend every year, with growth rates maintained between 20% and 35%. With the vigorous implementation of coal to gas conversion plans by governments in some regions of China and the influence of real estate policies, there is a significant demand in the engineering market; In addition, with the increasing maturity of the southern heating market and the emergence of a large number of replacement markets in North China and Northwest China, as well as the rapid development of retail markets represented by East China and Southwest China, and the driving force of various favorable factors such as the implementation of environmental protection policies, the relaxation of gas consumption, and price discounts, it can be expected that China's gas heating water heater market will continue to maintain a strong growth momentum in 2017.
